چکیده

The present study was carried out on commercial types of Aswan granite used as building and decorative materials. Nearly 29 granitic rocks samples from 11 classes (black Aswan, red dark Rosa, light yellow Verdi, grey Shirka, Gandolla, Forsan, Nefertiti, Royal, white Halayeb) were collected three stations near city for petrographical description assessment natural radioactivity. granites conducted by polarized-light microscope in order to determine their mineralogical composition investigate texture; the activity radionuclides 238U, Ra226, 232Th, 40K measured gamma-ray spectrometry with a NaI(Tl) detector. average values activities, 52.2 Bq kg?1, 57.8 31.2 1055.7 kg?1 U-238, Th-232, Ra-226, K-40, respectively, higher than that world 35 30 400 226Ra, 40K, according recommended levels UNSCEAR reports. minimum maximum obtained compared value ranges other locations Eastern Desert, highlighting fact this work are those areas. According radiological hazards indices results, most lie permissible level ranges, suggesting favorability use In contrast that, some have environmental parameters international levels, indicating unsuitability

Assessment of Natural Radioactivity Levels and Potential Radiological Risks of Common Building Materials Used in Bangladeshi Dwellings

The concentrations of primordial radionuclides (226Ra, 232Th and 40K) in commonly used building materials (brick, cement and sand), the raw materials of cement and the by-products of coal-fired power plants (fly ash) collected from various manufacturers and suppliers in Bangladesh were determined via gamma-ray spectrometry using an HPGe detector. The results showed that the mean concentrations ...
